              | Despite a day of intermittent downpours, around seventy OSBs and guests attended the traditional gathering. The morning’s business began with a meeting of the Committee followed by the Society’s AGM presided over by our President Darryl Davies (FS 62-68). He began proceedings by presenting our indefatigable Secretary, Pam Rumney, with a bouquet of flowers to thank her for the great efforts she had made to organise this event.

He then went on to give his Presidential review of the year. This was followed by Andrew Keep’s, the Acting Headmaster’s report of the year’s events at school and an indication of plans for the future. The full Minutes of the AGM will be included in the January 2026 issue of the Bulletin.

              | | There was then a presentation on the OSB Golfing Society, delivered by Tom Wright (G 11-15) and Adrian Peckitt (FS 72-77), which included an appeal for any interested OSBs to support this branch of the Society. Following questions and answers, the meeting ended and members gathered in the school Chapel for a service. We are very grateful to the Rev John Woolcock, who stood in to conduct this service at extremely short notice, and to the school’s music master, Lee Shackley, for playing the organ.
Lunch was then taken in the Foundation dining room and, again in spite of the weather, this was followed by a musical entertainment in the Quad, in which the well-known Miss Dee (Vicky Davies (L 94-99)) performed as well as a local group assembled by Neil Bettinson, which played music by a Victorian music master of the school, John Rooke. Lee Shackley and a former recent student, Maddison Charlton (22-24) also contributed to the entertainment. |
              | Also taking place after lunch was a fives tournament, organised by John Wilkinson (FS 68-73) and Laurence Gribble (SH 02-09), which included current students of the school, staff and OSBs.
Events concluded with a barbecue and the opportunity to prolong conversations and reminiscences on what had been a successful day despite the weather’s best efforts to spoil it.
A list of those who had indicated they would be attending on the day, along with apologies for absence, can be found later in this issue.

              |   On OSB Day 2025, the Eton Fives Marathon Team of 1973 was re-created as far as possible (see left photo below). In 1973 the Marathon lasted 60 hours non-stop and each of the 6 people involved played for 40 hours each to complete it. In 1973 it was a world record (see right photo below).
